A Poem: Sun on Snow

I wish for you

Sunshine on snow.
A pass where there is
no passageway.
A means to proceed.

And I pray,

For frozen rivers that thaw,
that burst their banks
with showers of mercy,
and blessing.

Sometimes I wonder
if He is more purposeful
than we quite
understand.

That he makes our way hard,
or dark, or confusing,
that He might come through
with a plan.

Like sunshine on snow,
or passes that clear;
and rivers of blessing
to break barriers.

So God’s mercy
when it bursts its banks
carries us
in its forward momentum.
