A Poem: Run

Be like water
runs.

Which if it doesn’t find a way,
will move around,
obstacles, roadblocks.

Yes, the things that would impede our way cannot,
when we’re like the water that flows.

Yes, be like the water
that builds
and falls,

from clouds that must
give up their contents;

or if contained,
bursts,
as floods in the springtime.

Either way
water will move.

Yes, be like water,
that at the pull of a moon
can change direction.

Water knows where it must go
and flows

through fingers,
ravines,
rocky inclines.

No inhospitable place
can thwart

water’s need to flow,
and release
the weight of its load.

So be like water
and dance

with the light-hearted knowing
that nothing can impede
your progress.

Water which covers half the
earth,

and makes up
the greater sum
of our substance

says, ‘Remember,
remember
who you are.

Yes, You that are water,
run.’

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.’
Hebrews 12:1-2
