A Poem: Truths

What does your heart say?

Open and listen
before someone else speaks.

Know what it is that quietly breathes,
what you already knew

before someone told you.

Your heart does not waste its time
on untruths.

If it is silent
it’s just awaiting your ear,

inclined, expectant.

What is this wisdom that
precedes the world?

That does not enunciate
and yet shapes in thought

the gist of yourself.

That when known
you’ll wonder from whence it arose,

this Word that was yours
before you spoke.
