A Poem: Nameless One

Nameless you come slipping
out of the eternity
and nameless you sink yourself
a stone in the pond of our being.

That nameless we come to know you
and to call you beloved.
And known, we come to call ourselves
beloved.

YHWH, the name above all names,
who comes with all the secrets of the universe
engrained,
implants himself

that we know ourselves,
not by an echo of a sound,
a breath,
but by the very Word of life itself.

That we see ourselves
in the face of the One who,
though undefinable,
is named in every language.

Though definitions
can’t match the Word
from which the world was sown as seed
to become the green continuum it is.

YHWH,
you come alongside us with soundless feet,
to bring to awareness our
sacred selves beheld in you.

And named we learn to
call ourselves beloved,
and to call you by the name
love gives our tongue.

Emmanuel,
God with us.
