“Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart, and try to love the questions themselves, as if they were locked rooms or books written in a foreign language.”
Rainer Maria Rilke

God, give me the courage of another road.
Give me the peace to accept new things,
to go new ways, to embrace the unfamiliar.
Give me the grace to be changed.
You who create each moment,
create me anew today.
Let each breath be a rebirth.
Be my star, and lead me.
Awaken me to your calling
and to my going.
I let go of my attachment to knowing the way
and my fear of not knowing.
Let me know nothing, and only listen,
depending entirely on you,
trusting that in all that changes
you are present, steadfast and devoted.
Walk with me, God, on this new road.
Steve Garnaas Holmes

“Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.”
Psalm 16:5-6

MY PRAYER for us today is for release.  To loosen our grip, to trust in the hand that holds more than we can grasp, in two small fists. Our prayer, needs to echo the prayer that we were given.  ‘Give us this day our daily bread’.  Not tomorrow’s bread, or the answers to tomorrow’s problems, but today’s answer for today’s need.  I am not sure about you, but my vivid imagination takes me far beyond where God wants me to live.  As my children test the waters, and venture out in independence, I tend to question what I’ve taught them, as though it all relied on me.  God whispers to me its about relationship, communication, and continued negotiations – not hard and fast rules to protect, but guidance and wisdom to provide uplift, and a safe place for faltering feet to fall. Whether our fears are for others or for ourselves, I pray today for trust, for the faith that enables us to release ourselves into the hands of Him who has our best at heart.  For His Father’s heart for us will not fail us.

  1. Hi darling, a very moving poem; I do hope and pray that all happening in your lives goes well for you. Yes, I too can only pray each day and night for the health, happiness and peace of mind of my beloved children and grandchildren. But, keep the lines of communication and especially quiet listening without direction from us, up and open as much as you can; perhaps tea for two somewhere or talking when driving. Lots of love, bless you baby, your mum
