A Poem: To Fall

To fall is human,
and to err
a part of life.

How the sun rises
to then be obscured
by cloud,

that it might almost appear
to be offset
from course.

Yes, we do not know when
we might walking,
all of a sudden trip.

Like the sun
leaving too soon.
But it’s always a surprise.

And we are so much better
at lifting another up
off the floor.

With the easy grace,
of the tall
and the strong.

But when its us looking up,
bare-faced,
with hearts unveiled.

We might think our
countenance is now
as dark as a vanished sun.

But we might be mistaken.
Guilt can sometimes be
too quick to erase errors.

But if we can keep ourselves
open and unshielded
as when in free fall,

we might find
that to err is human
and to fall divine,

when the truth
bores in
like light from heaven.

And we see ourselves
naked,
and in great need.

Then learning can begin,
and relationship previously untested
be newly forged.

Yes,
to fall is human,
and to err a part of life.

How the sun rises
to then be obscured
by cloud,

that it might almost appear
to be off set
from course,

to the unlearned eye.
