‘You will know the truth
and the truth will set you free.’
We eat
from the world’s larder
and are still hungry.
We love,
but with salt tasting tears
and often burnt out hearts.
We know this life as
an instant incomplete,
an artwork yet unfinished.
And we live, one foot in,
one foot on the first rungs
of heaven.
Is this it, this knowledge
too much for our fathoming
that points to something better?
Is this the truth
that makes the earth and all its losses
bearable?
This love,
that covers the sky with its silver lining.
That takes our heart
and assures us of its survival.
