A Poem: While the World Turns

~ An Anniversary Poem

While the world turns,
I turn toward you.
I turn toward you to hold me still,
to move me,
to carry me forwards.

While the world turns,
I pivot around your centre.
I twirl toward you to dance with me,
to soothe
and to support.

While the world turns,
I ask you to rotate with me,
and to take my hand
in our revolutions
around the light.

It is not a thing we can negotiate,
this journey we are set upon,
but we can choose how
it is spent,
and with whom.

While the world turns,
I pray you turn toward me,
that you are drawn toward me
to encompass
and embrace.

While the world turns,
I pray you centre yourself in me,
that I might dance you
to the rhythms
of my heart.

We are two people on a planet,
but are also a planet in ourselves,
with its gravity
and its centre axis,

its revolutions around Love’s sun.

  1. this is so beautiful, I imagine it’s written about your relationship with someone dear to you, possibly your husband. What a blessing to have such a person in your life! πŸ₯°
