“To get up each morning with the resolve to be happy is to set our own conditions to the events of each day. To do this is to condition circumstances instead of being conditioned by them.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Nothing is permanent in this world.  Not even our troubles”
Charlie Chaplin

“Heaven will solve our problems, but not, I think, by showing us subtle reconciliations between all our apparently contradictory notions. The notions will all be knocked from under our feet. We shall see that there never really was any problem.”
C.S. Lewis

“He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.”
Matthew 8:26

MY PRAYER today is for everything we don’t know.  We see mountains, when God sees the pass we are yet to take through them.  We feel confused and inadequate and he sees the growth that is occurring in us, through our trials.  We feel helpless to know what to do, and he reminds us that we are change-makers through trusting him, and obedience to his still small voice.  We see the storm at the 3rd hour and he sees the calm to come at the 5th.   How hard it is to trust Him in the middle of things.  We can feel like abandoned orphans.  We like the disciples can wonder how he can so seemingly sleep, oblivious to our needs.  Can’t he see the problems mounted against us?  He can, but he can see further and wider and higher.  Today I pray that we will keep our hearts and minds water-tight to the worry that threatens to drown us at times, and trust in the one who can calm the waves, and part the sea.

  1. hi love, a heartfelt cry to be able to handle our circumstances, which we all feel at times; beautifully done. Here is a poem for you, You gave me this many, many years ago. Thank you.

This is our prayer as mother and daughter:

These are our wishes, our dreams:

That we may always be more than close, that nothing will come between the bond of love we share.

That I will always be there for you, as you will be for me.

That we will listen with love.

That we will share truths and tenderness.

That we will trust, and talk things out.

    That we will understand.

That wherever you go, you will be in my heart, and your hand will be in my hand. — Laurel Atherton
